About us
About us
Enrich the lives of our communities by providing diverse opportunities, support, resources, and connection that enhance well-being and resilience
Our Story
Heart of the Bays is more than just a community centre. It is a place where people can connect, learn, grow and have fun. We are a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status, established in 1989 by a group of locals who wanted to create a community hub in the Bays. Since then, we have been offering a wide range of activities and services for people of all ages and backgrounds, such as health, fitness, art, craft, languages, support groups and special interest groups.
We have two venues for hire: the community centre on the village green in Browns Bay, and St Anne’s Hall, a historic and spacious hall for larger events and activities. Both venues are equipped with modern facilities and amenities, and are available for regular or casual hire.
We are run by a board of volunteers who are passionate about improving the quality of life for the Bays residents. They set the direction and policies for our organisation, and meet every four weeks. We also have a friendly and professional staff team who manage the day-to-day operations of our centre and hall.
We invite you to explore our website and find out more about what we do and how you can get involved. Whether you want to join a class, hire a venue, or become a board member, we would love to hear from you and welcome you to our community. Heart of the Bays is where the community comes together.
